-
Dipl.-Ing. Marc Wietheger: Das Aachener Rathaus - Denkmalpflegerische Konzeptionen im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert, 2013 bis 2018
The work is devoted in detail to the structural and monument conservation measures at Aachen City Hall since 1815. Against the background of drastic structural events, the processes and protagonists of the restoration and repair measures that have contributed significantly to the preservation of this important monument over the past 200 years will be examined and evaluated for this period of time, which so far has received little attention. On the basis of the current results of systematic and detailed building documentation and historical building research, the written and graphic documents that have been collected in the archives as well as their scientific evaluation will be presented. Together with the previously largely unpublished plan drawings of the building administration and the competition entries on reconstruction after destruction by fire and war, the aim is not only to provide a glimpse of lost architectural art and substance. The different concepts and controversial approaches in the conservation of monuments and historic buildings will also be clarified.
-
Dipl.-Ing. Moritz Wild: Architekturlehre und Städtebau der zwanziger bis fünfziger Jahre im Regierungsbezirk Aachen – René von Schöfer (1883-1954), 2013 bis 2016
-
Dipl.-Ing. Guido Zens: Der Kölner Architekt Theodor Kremer (1846-1927), 2006 bis 2018
In the high and final phase of historicism, 30 new churches were built in the former archbishopric of Cologne according to plans by Theodor Kremer. In addition, there will be conversions and extensions of churches and religious buildings. The work reflects the life and work of the architect and places him in the context of his time and colleagues. It is also intended to close a gap in the inventory.
