Cours Light and Room
Light as a central element of architecture
The course will be supervised by architect and lighting designer Sandra Lorenz. Basic principles and examples of the interplay between light, architecture and space will be presented.
The objective of the seminar is to sharpen the perception of light in space and to understand what qualities are achieved with it in architecture. We will visit several conceptually inspiring modernist buildings, which we will draw, measure and analyse for their incidental or planned incidence of light. The focus is on understanding the importance of light direction for the realisation of the building idea.
We will also learn the basics needed to be able to use light as a design element in one's own design.
